Rough draft of my abstract outline
The research will be conducted in an excisting house located in westsyde kamloops. The house has very old horizontal sliding windows in it. Over the first few months of summer different window systems will be researched to see which will benifit the owner of a residential house in kamloops and not be too costly. Once a effective window system has been found new windows will be installed in the house. This will allow the research to show some energy savings by comparing new months energy comsumption data with months from past years.
Thesis Question
How can new windows in a old residential house in kamloops effectivly reduce the energy consumption without being unaffordable to install?
this is sort of a rough draft if anyone has any comments or ways i could inprove on it, it would be most helpful

window types
I was reading some information on Natural Rescources Canada website and came across high efficency windows ratings and some information on different types http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/personal/new-homes/r-2000/standard/high-perf-windows.cfm?attr=4 it has some comparisons of heat loss and gain and the different windows styles like fixed and operable windows. Also saying casement and awning style windows offer a tighter seal then vertical or horizontal sliders.

Revised proposal
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
The proposed research project is to upgrade the windows in a cost effective manor to an exciting house to further increase the efficiency of the house.
Purpose
The purpose of the project is to create a great enough savings to the home owner, to have upgrading an old houses windows worth while to everyone and hopefully will have some people seeing seeing the savings they could be having and possible make them upgrade their windows and help the planet become a little more green.
Goals and Objectives
The goals and objectives are to get people saving money by seeing the benefits of upgrading their windows in their older homes, and in turn helping the earth become a much greener place. Today people are focusing on making new homes greener but that only helps so much many people still live in older homes and aren’t going to go out and buy a new home anytime soon. So if all those people with older less efficient house see the benefit of upgrading their windows a few might.
Methodology and Analytical Approach
I plan to use my father’s house as a case study it is an older home in need of an upgrade to the windows. I have access to his current energy uses per month and will look at how much he could save by upgrading the windows and how much it will cost. I will also see what will be the best method, like when the old windows are taken out should the new windows be the same size or should would it be better to put in some smaller windows.
Previous Studies and Related Information
I will be using published textbooks on insulation to learn a lot of information on insulating, different insulation types and methods of installing insulation. Such texts as
-Keeping the Heat in
-This Cold House
-Architecture in a Climate of Change
-Building better homes
-Energy and resource efficiencies
Plans for Dissemination of Work
I will be creating a blog for every one to view and keeping it updated with my progression threw the report and anything interesting I have found.
Contribution of the Project to your Academic Goals and Objectives
This project will further extend my understanding in green design and windows, and will allow me to suggest ways for people to upgrade their homes and save some money will at the same time helping the environment.
